Frequently Asked Questions – Caravan & Vehicle Weighing

EZI-WEIGH | Mobile Caravan and Vehicle Weighing, Gold Coast

What is a caravan weighing service?

A caravan weighing service checks the actual weight of your caravan, tow vehicle, and full combination against the manufacturer’s legal limits. EZI-WEIGH brings a mobile weighbridge to you and provides a detailed report covering GCM, GVM, GTM, ATM, BTC, TBM, and axle loads.

Why do I need to weigh my caravan before travelling?

Overloaded or unevenly loaded caravans are unsafe and illegal to tow. Excess weight affects braking, handling and stability, can void your insurance, and may result in fines or demerit points if you’re stopped by authorities.

Where does EZI-WEIGH provide caravan weighing services?

EZI-WEIGH is based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, and provides mobile caravan and vehicle weighing throughout South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Do you come to my location, or do I need to bring my caravan to you?

EZI-WEIGH is a fully mobile service. We bring the weighbridge to your home, business, storage facility, or another convenient location, so there’s no need to travel.

What is the difference between GCM, GVM, GTM, ATM, BTC and Tow Ball Mass?

GCM (The Gross Combination Mass) is the total weight of the entire rig, encompassing the fully loaded caravan and fully loaded tow vehicle. GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) is the maximum allowed weight of your tow vehicle including passengers, accessories and luggage and tow ball mass. GTM (Gross Trailer Mass) is the weight the caravan places on its axles. ATM (Aggregate Trailer Mass) is the caravan’s total weight including tow ball mass.

Braked Towing Capacity is the maximum allowable weight that can be towed by a vehicle.TBM (Tow Ball Mass) is the downward force the caravan places on the tow vehicle’s hitch. EZI-WEIGH measures all six during a weighing session.

What equipment do you use to weigh caravans?

EZI-WEIGH uses the Dini Argeo Wireless 8 Weight Pad System, calibrated, regularly tested weighing system that provides accurate readings down to the kilogram for every wheel of your rig all at once.

How long does a caravan weighing session take?

A typical EZI-WEIGH session runs for around 90 minutes and includes a one-on-one consultation where our team walks you through your weight report and answers any questions.

What types of vehicles can you weigh?

EZI-WEIGH can weigh caravans, cars, 4WDs, motorhomes, campers, tiny homes, boats and trailers.

What happens if my caravan is found to be overweight?

If your rig exceeds its legal limits, EZI-WEIGH will explain exactly where the excess weight is coming from and provide clear, practical advice on what to remove, relocate or adjust to bring your setup back into compliance. Where possible these changes are made whilst vehicles are on the scales.

Is caravan weighing the same as a caravan mechanical service?

No. EZI-WEIGH’s caravan service focuses on weight compliance and safety, not mechanical repairs, servicing of brakes, seals or appliances. If you need mechanical work done, we can point you toward a suitable repairer, but our expertise is in accurate weighing and compliance advice.

Do you offer discounts for caravan clubs or associations?

Yes. EZI-WEIGH offers discounted rates for Caravan Associations, Groups and Clubs. Get in touch with our team to arrange a group booking.
